With a 17% chance of acceptance, it\u2019s all about quality!<\/p>\n<p>Whether you\u2019re thinking of sending us an experience report, or a workshop, here are some tips from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/andrewnesling\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Andy Nesling<\/a>, a multi-year speaker in our Product Design &#038; Management track:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Talk about what you\u2019ve experienced, not what you\u2019ve read\u2026  don\u2019t talk about generic techniques without bringing some personal experience.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Make your submission stand out, assume more submissions exist for your topic.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Don\u2019t link out to other content, if you can\u2019t make your submission exciting on one page then more pages won\u2019t do it.&#8221; (links are actually scrubbed for blind review)<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Make the submission content exciting, don\u2019t just say how exciting it\u2019ll be on the day.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>And here\u2019s some field-by-field advice. Thanks Andy!<\/p>\n<p><em>Title<br \/>\n&#8220;This is half of your sales job, think about it carefully, will it catch the interest of attendees, is it engaging and relevant?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Description<br \/>\n&#8220;Set out your stall, describe the story you want to lead attendees through, what problems did you encounter, what were your successes and failures?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Takeaways<br \/>\n&#8220;What are the 3-5 things you want attendees to do differently, or know more about, once they have left the room?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Outline<br \/>\n&#8220;Tell reviewers how it\u2019ll all work behind the scenes, give them confidence you\u2019ve thought about how to stitch together different ideas.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>And finally, here are some top secret guidelines our speaker committee &#8211; Steve Smith, Gwen Diagram, and Chris O\u2019Dell &#8211; share with our reviewer panel:<\/p>\n<p>Steve has his Title Takeaways Outline Rule &#8211; \u2018tell us the attendee benefits\u2019. A good submission links a title\/takeaways\/outline showing what and how attendees will learn.<\/p>\n<p>Gwen has her Interactive Workshop Rule &#8211; \u2018tell us how the group will collaborate\u2019. A good workshop submission says how people will work together to learn something.<\/p>\n<p>Chris has her O\u2019Dell Rule &#8211; \u2018tell us what your list of things actually is\u2019. A good submission that mentions a list actually says what the list will be.<\/p>\n<p>We hope this helps you.
